How To Grow Lipstick Plant

Just like a bright red lipstick adds the final touch to an outfit, so too does the lip stick plant!

It’s glossy green foliage (sometimes textured, too) adorned with red or orange tubular flowers complement the look of any room, especially if you’re looking to ‘junglify’ your home.

Position:Indoors in a well lit spot away from direct sunlight
Water: Water occasionally, but allow the plant to dry out well between waterings. Water less frequently in winter and when the plant is growing in lower light conditions
Soil: Well drained, course potting mix suitsble for epiphytes.
When To Grow: All year, protect during winter/cold weather.

How To Grow

Step 1: Choose a pot at least 200mm wide and position in a brightly lit spot, out of direct sunlight.
Step 2: Part fill with quality potting mix such as Yates Premium Potting Mix. Remove plant from pot and gently tease the rootball to loosen the roots. Position in pot, backfill with potting mix and water in well.
Step 3: Feed fortnightly during the growing season (spring to autumn) with Yates Thrive Houseplant Liquid Plant Food.
Step 4: Lip stick plants do not like wet feet so do not overwater. Only re-water when the potting mix feels dry.
