One frustration I keep coming up against as a gardener in a frosty area is the hard thing of friends in warmer parts posting springtime photos of their gardens in the kind of full growth mine won't be showing until early to mid summer.

First day of the trough set-up

This poor garden trough went through the January floods, so I emptied it and have only just set it up again on Sunday 1 September.

I got myself organised and started seeds early this year indoors by the fire at night and out in the sun during the day. It has worked a treat and some seedlings are roaring along. Capsicum were slower than most, but are up! Much better results...
