cyclamen after 4 days at home indoors - leaves going conpletely yellow and new buds going soft and floppy

Answer: Hi Stuart,

Thank you for contacting Yates.

There are various reasons why cyclamens can ‘go off’ after you taken them home from the nursery/shop.

It may simply be the dramatic change in environment, especially if they have been grown in a temperature controlled glasshouses. The best thing to do in any case is to look after them as best you can.

Watering: Don’t water the leaves or foliage, preferably water the plant from the base by soaking it in a saucer of water for half an hour, then remove plant from the water.
Aspect: keep plants in a position where the temperature is fairly constant and cool with good, natural, filtered light. Avoid putting plants in a position with draughts and air-conditioner/heaters.
Feeding: We recommend ‘Yates Thrive Houseplant Liquid Plant Food’. It is a complete liquid fertiliser that provides most houseplants with the balanced nutrition they need to produce stronger, healthier foliage and an abundance of vibrant flowers.
Pruning: to remove dead flowers and leaves, use a sharp pair of scissors/secateurs to prevent damaging the bulb.

Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Elise
