I am building 2 foot tall walls around all my queen palms. i want to fill it with dirt and then use the planters to plant some vegetables. I was told that it could kill the Palms to put that much soil over the roots. The roots will be covert with 2 feet

Answer: Hi Daniela, 2 feet of soil is too much to raise around established palms. I dont know how old/big your palms are, but if possible I would dig them up and replant at the correct soil level within the planter area. You will not be able to grow vegetables directly around a mature palm as the fibrous root system will be too dense after a year or so. The vegetables will not thrive and you will be unable to cultivate properly.
