What vegetables should I plant in a sunny, open area in December/January?

I am new to growing my own vegetables. I live in Tasmania and have just moved to an area with lots of land which is open and sunny. What vegetables (and how) should I plant to have the best success?

Answer: Hi Amber, there are quite a lot of suitable veges for you to sow at this time, your best friend while you are getting started is the Yates Garden Guide Book, now in its 42nd edition. It has a full planting calendar for all areas. For starters plan to sow beans, beetroot, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, lettuce, capsicum and leeks.
