Scaevolas, sometimes called fan flowers, are fantastic flowering ground cover plants native to Australia.
Oasis Horticulture is introducing two gorgeous new scaevola varieties into their Surdiva® range, that have been proudly bred in Australia. They have a compact mounded, semi-trailing habit and produce interesting fan-shaped flowers continuously during summer. Growing to around 20 cm high and 50 cm wide, they're ideal for filling bare spots in sunny or lightly shaded garden beds, as well as growing in hanging baskets and pots.
Look out for these stunning Surdiva scaevolas in your local nursery in late spring:
- 'Deep Violet Blue', pictured below left, has luxurious and intense blue flowers.
- 'Fashion Pink', pictured below right, has unique dark pink flowers that are enhanced by dark green foliage.
To help keep them tidy, scaevolas can be given a light trim back after flowering. And Australian native plants like scaevolas can be given a feed each spring and autumn with Yates® Dynamic Lifter® Soil Improver & Plant Fertiliser, which gently releases organic nutrients to promote healthy growth and lots of lovely flowers. Yates Dynamic Lifter will also add rich organic matter to the soil, which improves the quality of the soil and attracts beneficial earthworms and soil microorganisms.
