How to grow bay trees in a garden

Step 1

Choose a well drained, full sun position in your garden. Before planting apply Yates Dynamic Lifter Soil Improver & Plant Fertiliser into the soil and water well.

Step 2

Plant is mainly propagated by semi hardwood cuttings which are taken at the end of summer. Use a well drained propagation mix.

Step 3

Plant cuttings out when they have a good root system and plant in a well drained soil. Apply Yates Dynamic Lifter Soil Improver & Plant Fertiliser to the soil and water well. Plant in the full sun.

Step 4

Bay trees are slow growing. Prune to keep in shape. Step 5: Can harvest leaves at anytime of the year.

How to grow bay trees in a pot

Step 1

Choose a pot at least 300mm wide and deep. Position in full sun or light shade.

Step 2

Fill chosen pot with quality potting mix, such as Yates Potting Mix with Dynamic Lifter. Remove the shrub from the container, gently tease the roots and cut away any circled or tangled roots.
