How to Grow Dietes

Choose a spot in the garden that receives full sun to part shade.

Enrich the soil in the planting bed with some compost and Yates Dynamic Lifter Soil Improver & Plant Fertiliser before planting.

Dig the planting hole twice as wide and to the same depth as the root-ball. Remove the plant from the container, gently tease the roots.

Position in hole and backfill with soil, gently firming down.  Form a raised or doughnut shaped ring of soil around the outer edge of the plant's root zone. This helps keep water where it's needed.  Always water in well after planting to settle the soil around the roots and keep the soil moist for several weeks while the new plant establishes.

Mulch around the base with organic mulch like bark chips, sugarcane or pea straw, keeping it away from the base of the plant.

During the flowering period, feed every 1 to 2 weeks with Yates Thrive Natural Roses and Flowers Liquid Plant Food. Feed in autumn and spring with Yates Dynamic Lifter Soil Improver & Plant Fertiliser to ensure strong root development.

Choose a pot at least 300 mm wide and deep. Position in full sun or part shade.

Remove the plant from the container, gently tease the roots and cut away any circled or tangled roots and rotten rhizomes.

Position in hole and backfill with potting mix, gently firming down. Water in well.

Water gently and keep the potting mix damp.

Feed every 4 to 6 weeks with Yates Thrive Roses and Flower Liquid Plant Food.

• Not suited to very wet conditions, constant care is required if they are grown in such areas.
