How to Grow Dill

A versatile herb, dill can be finely chopped and tossed into your potato and egg salad or used to garnish your fish and meat dishes. The light green feathery leaves are incredibly aromatic and look great growing in the garden, too.

How to grow dill in a garden

Step 1

Choose a sunny spot in your garden and enrich the soil with Yates Dynamic Lifter Soil Improver & Plant Fertiliser.

Step 2

Sow seeds, lightly cover with soil and water in well. As seedlings grow, thin to 20cm apart. Lightly mulch around the base of the plants with organic mulch, like sugar cane or pea straw to help retain moisture.

Step 3

Water regularly and feed weekly with Yates Thrive Vegie & Herb Liquid Plant Food.

Step 4

Snip to harvest and remove any flowers to prolong leafy growth.

How to grow dill in a pot

Step 1

Choose a pot at least 200mm wide and 300mm deep. Position in full sun and protect from strong winds.

Step 2

Fill pot with quality potting mix, such as Yates Potting Mix with Dynamic Lifter. Sow seeds, lightly cover and water in well. As seedlings grow, remove any weak straggly ones; leaving only the strongest.
