How to Grow Fatsia Japonica

How to grow fatsia in a pot

Step 1

Choose a pot at least 300-400mm wide (or larger, depending on your plant size) and position in a spot indoors.

Step 2

Partially fill the pot with Yates Potting Mix with Dynamic Lifter.

Step 3

Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the soil, trying not to disturb the roots too much.

Step 4

Position the plant in the middle of the new pot.. Fill in around the plant with potting mix and water well.

Step 5

After the initial watering, allow the potting mix to almost completely dry out before watering again. During the cooler months, reduce watering to every couple of weeks.

Step 6

Feed every two weeks in their growing season -usually spring and summer - with Yates Thrive Houseplant Liquid Plant Food.

Growing tips

If your plant isn't looking well, check for pests in the crown of the plant. Scale or mealy bugs tend to hide in the crown and could be sucking the sap from your plants.
If the plant grows too big for its pot, simply repot or prune back the stems in spring.
