How to Grow Hebes

Hebes are hardy shrubs that will grow in a wide range of climates, including cool and coastal locations. There are compact varieties available which grow to around 40cm tall or larger hebes reaching 1 – 1.5 m. Flower colours include white, pink, lavender, purple and crimson. Some varieties also have striking variegated foliage or burgundy coloured new leaves

How to grow hebes in your garden

Step 1

Choose a sunny spot that receives shade in the afternoon and prepare the planting area well by digging in Yates Dynamic Lifter Soil Improver & Plant Fertiliser.

Step 2

Dig a hole, place the plant in the bottom of the hole, backfill gently with soil and water in well.

Step 3

Mulch with an organic mulch, such as bark chips, sugar cane or pea straw and water in well.

Step 4

How to grow hebes in a pot

Step 1

Choose a pot at least 300mm wide and deep. Position the pot in a spot that receives morning sun and afternoon shade.

Step 2

Fill chosen pots with quality potting mix, such as Yates Potting Mix with Dynamic Lifter. Plant, backfill carefully with potting mix & water in well.

Step 3
