How to Grow String of Bananas

You'll go literally go bananas with this stunning succulent. String of Bananas is a hardy succulent plant that tolerates most conditions. It has white flowers that appear at various times of the year, with light green leaves that look just like bananas haning from the stem. Perfect to flow over a bookshelf, windowsill or even in the office.

Grow in a well-lit position away from draughts. Will tolerate full sun in a protected outdoor position and remains green all year round.

Occasional deep watering, will tolerate extended dry periods between. A drought hardy plant.

How to grow a string of bananas in a pot

Step 1

Choose a well-lit spot indoors or a full sun, protected position outdoors.

Step 2

Fill the pot with Yates Premium Potting Mix.

Step 3

Remove the plant from its container, try not to disturb the roots excessively. Give the foliage a light prune to encourage new shoots.

Step 4

Position the plant in the middle of the new pot. A hanging basket would be ideal. Fill in around the plant with potting mix and water in well.

Step 5

Water regularly in summer but reduce in cooler months.

Growing tips

To keep tidy, tip prune every couple of months. This will promote new dense growth.
Plants can be propagated easily by stem and leaf cuttings.
Check for pests and diseases regularly and treat accordingly.
