Durban Grass

Durban grass (sweet smother grass) is a broadleafed warm-season grass that is more shade-tolerant than other warm-season grasses.

It is used as a ground cover under trees in warmer climates. Durban grass leaves are light to mid-green, very soft, and fairly slow growing but, because it tolerates shade, this grass is gaining in popularity.

It will not take close mowing. Durban grass's broad leaves can be easily damaged by selective herbicides, so test on a small portion before applying to your lawn.
