Why You'll Love Yates' Range of Microgreens Seeds

Microgreens are baby plants that won't grow much no taller than 7.5 cm, making them perfect for growing in pots in small areas such as windowsills, balconies and in greenhouses. They're packed with nutrients, smell gorgeous and are great for adding to salads and sandwiches. They look beautiful as they grow too - they are often brightly coloured with interesting textures and add interest to any pot. Yates' range of quality microgreens seeds are available to buy online, with free shipping on orders over $50. You'll have pretty pots – and plates – in no time.

How to Grow Microgreen Seeds

In a pot or seedling tray, sprinkle a thick layer of seeds onto pre-moistened Yates Seed Raising Mix. Cover with a thin layer of seed mix and mist with a spray bottle to moisten the soil.

Once seedlings start to grow, apply Yates Thrive All Purpose Soluble Plant Food at half strength. This fast-acting soluble fertiliser is suitable for both indoor and outdoor plants. It is specially formulated with a blend of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and trace elements to encourage both healthy green foliage growth as well as flowers and fruiting.

Which Microgreens Can I Grow?

For a multi-coloured microgreen, choose Yates Microgreens Cabbage Rubies Seeds. With red stems and leafy green tops, they have a mild, sweet flavour and are ready to eat within 14-21 days of sowing. They grow best in a warm well-lit position indoors, so make a great kitchen plant.

Yates Microgreens Mizuna Red Gems Seeds is a mild, mustardy microgreen with a green stem, and purple green leaf. They grow well in pots with moist soil, germinating after four to six days, and are ready to eat after two to three weeks.

They look a little like cress, but Yates Microgreens Rocket Emeralds Seeds have a tangy flavour. With bright green leaves, their pale stems turn pink as they grow, adding some multi-coloured fun to pots. Position in a bright spot, out of direct sunlight. They're perfect for children to grow, nurture, pick, and eat.
