Why You'll Love Yates' Range of Vegetable Seeds

Nothing beats picking and eating home-grown veggies. So fresh and delicious and good to grow nearly all year round, veggies can thrive in garden beds, pots and even hanging baskets. Yates’ wide range of quality vegetable seeds are available to buy online with free shipping on orders over $50. You’ll have an abundant kitchen garden in no time.

How to Grow Vegetable Seeds

For early sowing, raise vegetable seeds in trays of Yates Seed Raising Mix then transplant into pots or garden beds. Before transplanting, enrich the soil with Yates Dynamic Lifter Soil Improver & Plant Fertiliser to provide nitrogen for healthy leaf growth and phosphorus for strong root development. Once seedlings are in, water well.

As new leaves start to grow, apply Yates Thrive All Purpose Soluble Plant Food regularly. This soluble fertiliser contains nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and trace elements to encourage healthy green foliage growth as well as flowers and fruiting.

Protect your vegetables from Snails and Slugs with Yates Snail & Slug Bait.

Which Vegetables Can I Grow?

Carrots are versatile to use, easy to grow, and come in several different varieties. Aid germination by laying a plank of wood over the top of seeds and remove after germination. They also make great companion plants for Beans, Cucumbers, Lettuce, Peas, Radishes, and Tomatoes.

Climbing vegetables such as Yates Purple King Climbing Beans Seeds and Yates Telephone Pole Climbing Peas Seeds both look impressive and work brilliantly in garden beds with full sun. Ensure there is space for stakes or a trellis. When flower buds form, apply Yates Thrive Soluble Flower & Fruit Plant Food to encourage prolific flowering and fruiting. At the end of harvest, dig spent plants into the soil to add extra organic nitrogen for next season’s plants.

There’s a Tomato plant for almost any occasion. If you’re after something different, Yates Heirloom Tomato Seeds grow in a variety of colours. Yates Patio Tomato Seeds are perfect for small pots and containers and don’t need staking. Protect Tomatoes from pests and diseases with Yates Tomato & Vegetable Dust, and if you have lots of Fruit Fly around, protect plants with Yates Nature's Way Fruit Fly Control.

Seed tapes are an easy way to grow vegetables. Tiny seeds are pre-spaced and easy to handle which reduces the need for future thinning and saves you time and effort. Yates’ seed tapes can be cut to any size, are biodegradable, and are environmentally friendly. Because they’re so easy to use, they’re a perfect way to get children involved in gardening. Yates has seed tapes for Broccoli, Manchester Carrots, Baby Carrots, and Red Rubin Radish.
